Dr. Abdul-razaq Musa is a Paediatric Emergency Physician at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Australia, with a special interest in emergency mental health care and the advancement of paediatric resuscitation skills in low-resource settings. He is the founder of the International Resuscitation Group, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving paediatric resuscitation practices in developing countries. In 2014, Dr. Musa established the International Paediatric Life Support (IPLS) course, which now operates in 5 paediatric teaching hospitals and 3 medical colleges across Iraq and Australia. In addition to his medical and humanitarian work, Dr. Musa is a co-founder and currently serves as Chair of the Board at Playford College.

Dr. Abid Ali Shah graduated from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, Pakistan in 1983. He moved to the United Arab Emirates in 1986 and served with distinction at a Red Crescent-affiliated hospital for 30 years. In 1992-1993, he successfully established a Red Crescent affiliated Healthcare center in Accra, Ghana, that delivered comprehensive medical care, health education, and critical support services to the local community. In 2006, Dr. Shah completed a specialization in Occupational medicine from the University of Kent, UK. He has extensive experience in hospital management and is one of the key pioneers in establishing the medical health tourism sector in Dubai under the Dubai Health Authority's framework. In 2016, Dr. Shah relocated to Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, where he founded a medical health tourism organization. He is currently advancing efforts to establish a Red Crescent affiliated hospital in the country. Throughout his career, Dr. Shah has maintained a close association with IMI and its humanitarian initiatives. He played an instrumental role in establishing the IMI Oman chapter and currently serves as the chapter head.

Biography:
Dr. Arshed A. Quyyumi, Former Global President of Medics International, has been involved in clinical translational research in cardiovascular diseases for over 25 years. Dr. Quyyumi received his undergraduate degree in Pharmacology and medical degree from the University of London, England. He completed his residency at Guy's and Royal Free Hospitals in London, and cardiology fellowships at National Heart Hospital, London; Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston; and the National Institutes of Health. After completion of his residency and fellowship, he served in several capacities in the Cardiology Branch of National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, NIH in Bethesda, MD, including Senior Investigator and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. In 2001 he was appointed Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, and in 2010 he was named Co-Director of the Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute (ECCRI). Since 2005, Dr. Quyyumi has been awarded more than $9 million in research funding. He serves on the Editorial Boards of several national journals, is a member on several Scientific Advisory Boards, and is a reviewer for the NIH-NHLBI Study Sections. Dr. Quyyumi has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and has been an invited speaker and session chair at numerous National and International scientific meetings and conferences. Dr. Quyyumi's research focus includes vascular biology, angiogenesis, progenitor and stem cell biology, mechanisms of myocardial ischemia, and the role of genetic and environmental risks on vascular disease. Other interests have spanned the fields of personalized medicine and disparities in cardiovascular diseases. During his academic career, Dr. Quyyumi has carried out more than 50 NIH, industry-funded, or investigator-initiated projects, including numerous clinical trials. In addition to his phenomenal contribution to the profession of Cardiology in particular medicine in general, Dr. Quyyumi has vast contribution to the society in general and Medics International in particular serving at the Global Board of Regents. Dr. Bagher Larijani - MD, FACE

Biography:
Professor Bagher Larijani was trained as an endocrinologist at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and obtained his Fellowship distinction from the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). He is the Founding President and Chief Scientific Officer of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute (EMRI), the largest medical research center in Iran with dozens of scientists and hundreds of employees. He is currently Professor of Medicine at TUMS and serves as Deputy Minister of Health. He has served as the Chancellor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, the oldest and most prestigious medical school in Iran, and has held the position of the Chairman of the Policy-making Council at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. In addition to his leadership role in Iranian medicine, Dr. Larijani continues to practice endocrinology and conducts clinical research. He has authored hundreds of journal articles and published several books in the fields of endocrinology, osteoporosis and medical ethics. With more than 16000 citations and an H-index of 68 recorded by Google Scholar in 2019, he is arguably the most prominent physician in Iran. Internationally, he has contributed to several global-scale research and policy-making conventions and assemblies, such as Lancet Commission on Obesity, and has been involved in different capacities in many projects of the International Osteoporosis Foundation, World Health Organization and other global health-related groups. It is noteworthy that during the past two decades, his main interest at the EMRI has been promoting pioneering translational medicine in Iran and bridging the gap between basic and clinical research in diabetes, osteoporosis, and other non-communicable diseases. Recently, as the Deputy-Chair of the National Supreme Committee for Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases, Dr. Larijani has made significant contributions to design and development of national-scale, multi-sectoral policies aiming at controlling the rampant nation-wide increase in the burden of non-communicable diseases which is predicted to dramatically inflict the nation in the future.

She serves as the Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Milford Regional Medical Center, where she leads initiatives to optimize antibiotic use and improve infection-related outcomes. Her work has focused on infectious disease management in both primary care and hospital settings, with a strong emphasis on quality improvement and community education. Dr. Jaffer Syed originally hails from Hyderabad, India. A graduate of the University of Toronto Medical School, he went on to complete residencies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Toronto, and a Clinical Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. Prior appointments include a Faculty position at the University of Western Ontario, at which time he completed a Master’s of Education, and rose to the level of Associate Professor of Medicine, before moving on to McMaster University where he is currently Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine. The Chancellor of IMI's al Sadiq International Virtual University (SIVU) and former Dean of the American University of Barbados, School of Medicine, Dr. Shabih Haider Zaidi completed his MBBS from Dow Medical College (DMC) in 1966. Following this he proceeded to UK for FRCS. He returned to Pakistan in 1972, and started teaching at his alma mater and rose to be the Professor and head of the department of ENT. He was also Principal of Sindh Medical College, Head of Medical Education, at DMC, Sindh Medical College and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center until 2001. Over the years, he was awarded Fellowships from of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), International College of Surgeons (FICS), and the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan (FCPS). Dr. Zaidi founded the Department of Medical Education at DMC. Dr. Zaidi has written several books and monographs, and published over a hundred scientific papers. He has also worked as an advisor and a consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO), and was a visiting Professor to the University Sains, Kelantan, Malaysia. Dr. Zaidi relocated to England in 2001 where he joined the University of Liverpool Teaching Hospital as an ENT Consultant. In 2004 he joined one of the University of Birmingham teaching NHS hospitals.

Dr. Syed Wajih Rizvi graduated from Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. He did his internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipid Disorders from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Hahnemann University, and the University of Pennsylvania. For 8 years he headed the Endocrine Division of the Dakota Clinic and Innovis Health Systems in Fargo, ND, and was Associate Professor of Clinical Endocrinology at the University of North Dakota. Currently he is an Associate Professor, Clinical Endocrinology, at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and Chief of R-Endocrinology and R-Research, in Hamilton, NJ. Dr. Rizvi is one of the founding members of Medics International, and serves as Advisor, International Relations & Affairs and the Permanent Representative to the United Nations and oversees the Global Headquarters. He has an avid interest in philosophy, Urdu poetry, traveling and wild life. He lives with his family in New Jersey.

Dr Syed Yasser Haider, Member IMI Board of Regents, Past President of IMI Canada and 2023 recipient of IMI's Man of the Year Award, is a Senior Orthopedic Consultant Surgeon at Markham-Stouffville Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He did his MD from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. After completing his orthopedic residency training at Royal London and St Bart’s in London, UK, he completed his orthopedic fellowship with the Intercollegiate Board of Royal Colleges in UK before moving to Canada. He completed his Canadian Orthopaedic fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2004. He is a visiting professor at several international medical institutions including King Edward Medical University and St George’s University. As IMI Canada’s President, Dr. Haider did a phenomenal job of engaging with IMI’s local and global efforts--from COVID-19 response to helping with humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. In 2023, while juggling his rigorous professional workload, he spearheaded an incredible IMI Canada National Conference that excelled in every area.

Dr Talib Tahir is a Rheumatologist and Consultant Physician. Dr Tahir’s areas of interest are inflammatory arthritis, osteoporosis, connective tissue disease, Musculoskeletal conditions and vacuities with a special interest in Behcet’s disease and also a variety of internal medicine complex disease. After graduating from Mosel medical school in 1987 Iraq, Dr Tahir achieved his fellowship and PhD in internal medicine in 1996 from Baghdad university. He was appointed as a lecturer in internal medicine at University of Kufa, College of medicine. Since migrating to Australia, Dr Tahir has worked as a specialist physician training in both internal medicine and rheumatology. He works in public hospitals for more than 15 years throughout Victoria hospitals with extensive variety of patient’s management experience and both rheumatology in general medicine. Dr Tahir obtained his FRACP qualifications in Australia in 2009. After that he worked in major general teaching hospitals in Melbourne, and was engaged in student teaching at Deakin University in Geelong. He is currently focused on improving his private practice at Coburg rheumatology service and other private hospitals. As well as consulting in his private rooms and attending private hospital mostly at North Park Private Hospital, John Fawkner private hospital and Brunswick private hospital, looking after of a varieties of general medicine and rheumatology acute on chronic case management, seeing patients almost every day as inpatient and outpatient, Coburg Rheumatology Service is a grand complex in which Dr Tahir will be primarily consulting from and offering same day treatment of both general medicine and rheumatology. Dr Zafar Naqvi is a board-certified psychiatrist with subspecialty certifications in Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. With over two decades of experience in academic psychiatry and clinical leadership, he currently leads outpatient services at CONFIDANTE Psychiatry Services and Massachusetts Psychiatry Services. Dr. Naqvi received his medical degree from Dow Medical College and completed his postgraduate training in psychiatry at Aga Khan Medical College in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He held prominent academic roles including faculty at Harvard Medical School for 10 plus years and Assistant Professor at UMass Medical School, where he also served as co-director and preceptor in addiction psychiatry education. His clinical expertise includes inpatient detox, outpatient psychiatry, and integrated consult-liaison psychiatry across medical, surgical, and critical care settings. He has published on topics such as opioid dependence and chronic pain, contributed to national guidelines on benzodiazepine use, and established innovative treatment clinics including Sublocade and Vivitrol programs. Dr Naqvi is an International Associate of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and a founding member of the Institute of Coaching at Harvard Medical School.
